Our very own Kylie Smith (age 10) was chosen to represent the U.S. as one of only 11 junior composers at the international Junior Original Concert held October 2014 in Tokyo, Japan. Kylie is a student at East Valley Yamaha Music School and has been taking piano lessons since the age of three under the direction of Ms. Heidi Grimes and Ms. Tomoko Yonemaru. Over 35,000 children submitted their songs for consideration and Kylie's piece, "Double Trouble Makers," was selected. Kylie will travel to Japan with her parents, Ms. Heidi Grimes, and Mrs. Dian D'Avanzo (Kylie's co-performer).

Kylie was interviewed by Good Morning Arizona and Fox 10 News at 5 to talk about her experience. Watch Kylie and Dian perform the piece in the video below!
